Yea and I remember when a Coke was a nickel and a pack of shewing gun the same ......... and of course a dime for a donut and a cup of coffee.

The way that I got figured out is only greed that makes prices go up because what you get is still the same.

I remember gas was .23 a gallon, bread a nickle a loaf, candy was a penny. Used to get a hot dog, fries and soda on the south side of Pgh for .25 cents. The biggest fish sandwich at the original oyster house in Down town Pittshburgh for a quarter, was enough for two guys to share. I also remember making a buck tweny five an hour too. Now pushing 19.00 per hour. Me personally have much more than I did years ago, house paid for and do re me , so Im better off than I was, Im set for life, working now to save and help the kids with their future.

Wow, and you might have paid 8 silver quarters for that tank of gas. 8 silver quarters today would get you about $16 in gas or about 7 gallons . . . not enough to fill your tank!

I remember filling the gas can for the lawn mower (1 gal) for less than the quater that I got to do it. I tell my children that and they think I am ancient and it was only 1966. 40 years ago!

A funny thing I've noticed lately is this: radio ads for a sale where they don't tell you how much they've reducedrices, but they tell you they are cutting prices back so many years. That is, they don't say 15% of or something, rather, prices from five years ago. Seems a big indicator of inflation to me.
